Having been a staple in the Grove and the City of Pueblo, Our Lady of Mount Carmel had its beginnings as a national church for Italian immigrants, but soon became a magnet for anyone who wished to come to Mass. The community was started in the late 1800's by the priests of the Society of Jesus. The Church was built, and the parish was established in 1920. It still offers Mass in Spanish and English to the Roman Catholics of Pueblo.

Like the old group that maintained it for many years, the new Society will represent the church at various spiritual and festive occasions including the annual Festival of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. In addition, the Society will have a special day per month to process into the church at the 11:00 a.m. Sunday Mass to honor Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Toward that end a brief meeting is planned for Sunday January 28th of 2024 following the 11:00 a.m. Mass. It will be held in the small hall in the basement of the church. Anyone interested in becoming a member or an officer in the Society is welcome to attend.

Eucharistic Revival
There are so many exciting moments on the Eucharistic Revival horizon we don't want you to miss. This Sunday is the Sunday of the Word of God — a day set aside to remind us why Sacred Scripture is so essential to every celebration of the Mass. Sacred music also has an important role in the liturgy, and the National Eucharistic Revival has just announced a Music Competition. Finally, registration for the 2024 National Eucharistic Congress opens in February! Read more.

St. Thérèse of Lisieux
Dear Friends,
In her many writings, St. Thérèse of Lisieux often spoke of God’s merciful love, noting his tender gaze upon us, his children, who so often go astray. As a matter of fact, that is why God sent his beloved Son Jesus: to redeem us, to save us from our errant ways so that we could enjoy the security of being in our Father’s house forever.
Thérèse was so confident in God’s merciful love that her image of God was not of a merciless judge, but rather of a merciful Father who gently carries his children in his loving arms. Indeed, she would sigh, “I assure you that the good Lord is much kinder than you can imagine.” How is it that we, his children, can extend that merciful love to those around us? Honestly, how could we not reflect God’s merciful love to our broken world, since we have the precious gift of Jesus nourishing us with his grace in the Eucharist, available to us every day?
