Having been a staple in the Grove and the City of Pueblo, Our Lady of Mount Carmel had its beginnings as a national church for Italian immigrants, but soon became a magnet for anyone who wished to come to Mass. The community was started in the late 1800's by the priests of the Society of Jesus. The Church was built, and the parish was established in 1920. It still offers Mass in Spanish and English to the Roman Catholics of Pueblo.

Procession of the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Presentation of the New Statue and Shelter from Rain. Jim And Joe Koncilja presented Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish with a statue of their patroness, which will soon stand high up over the front door on the outside of Mount Carmel church. The statue is given in memoriam of their aunt, Rose Paglione Merril, who is a parishioner at Mount Carmel 100 years ago. The statue came to Mount Carmel from Columbia via Miami to Pueblo. It is hand painted and made in Columbia.

The Capuchin Poor Clare Sisters cook some wonderful Mexican food to sell for the benefit of their new monastery construction at the Mount Carmel Festival. They shared the booth with the Elotes and Fruit Cups booth. Also the Street Tacos are a perennial favorite at the festival.
